Great Wall Dance Academy of Canada aims at offering high quality dance classes to help each student develop their passion in dance and fully reach their dance potential. We also provide ample performing opportunities throughout the year, including possible opportunities of attending performances and dance competitions in China or other cities in North America. Students from all ages and different ethnic backgrounds are welcome!

Brief Introduction of Ms. Yun Cheng:

Ms. Cheng graduated from Beijing Dance Academy - the top dance college in China in 1998, majoring in Dance Instruction and Choreography. During 1998-2005, she was actively involved in dance instruction and choreography for numerous national level arts programs in China. She is not only an enthusiastic and motivational dance instructor, but also a creative, productive and diligent choreographer of Chinese folk dance, and Chinese contemporary dance. She immigrated to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 2006 and has closely worked on local Chinese arts programs with Manitoba Great Wall Performing Arts Inc. (MGWPA) and Chinese Cultural and Community Center. She is also currently a dance instructor in Monica’s Danz Gym in Winnipeg.

 

Dance Education Theory:

Through elements from Chinese folk dance culture as well as contemporary dance body training methods to improve dancers’ awareness of their own bodies and therefore improve their ability to control their movements. Educate dancers to understand and recognize Chinese dance culture, and therefore to establish the esthetics of Chinese dance, the connection between dance and healthy life style, as well as the possible communication between Chinese dance and western dance.

Location 1 (south):    2810 Pembina Hwy (Downstairs of Beijing Acupuncture Pain Clinic)  

                                 Great dance studio facilities.

The new Adult Lyrical Dance is for fitness and recreation.

The Performance Workshop and rehearsal classes are designed for students wanting to learn dance programs to perform and we will provide dance performance opportunities in the near future, possible for Folklorama, Moon Festival, etc.

Thursdays,

5:45-6:30 pm Class #A1: Children Dance Performance Workshop (age 3-12)
6:30-7:30 pm Class #A2: Adult Lyrical Dance (age 18-55)
7:30-8:30 pm Rehearsal: Chinese Dance Rehearsals (age12 and above)
8:30-9:30 pm Class #B1: Asian Hip Hop (age 12-40)

Tuition: Level A: member of MGWPA $72/term; non-member $76/term (8 lessons/term)
Level B: member of MGWPA $48/term; non-member $50/term (8 lessons/term)
Half-price for male students

Rehearsal: one dance/term: $15; two dances/term: $25; three dances and more/term: $30
Free for male students

Registration:

New! Tuition Card: A Cards: 5-time A card: $60; 10-time A card: $100

                                   B Cards: 5-time B card: $40; 10-time B card: $70

                                   C Cards: 5-time C card: $30; 10-time C card: $50

Tuition cards will be valid for 6 months. A Cards can be used for all level classes; B Cards can be used for both Class A and Class B; C Cards can only be used for Class C. If you already registered a class for a term, then $5 (5-time) or $10 (10-time) discounts will apply. Please pay by cash or by CK to “Great Wall Dance Academy of Canada”.

v  Eligible for Federal Children Fitness Tax Credit.

v  All voluntary withdrawals: the remaining tuition will be refunded only if the administration is notified before the 3^rd lesson.
